Who Actually Goes to Si Racha?
Si Racha does not show up in most guidebooks, but the Bangkok to Si Racha run is one of the busiest private-transfer corridors we serve. The town hosts Thailand's largest Japanese expat community, sits among industrial estates that run six days a week, and anchors a coastline that Bangkok families drive to every weekend: Bang Saen 25 minutes north, the old stone market at Ang Sila on the road to Bang Saen, and Khao Kheow Open Zoo half an hour inland. If you are sailing out of Laem Chabang port, Si Racha is the last town before the terminal.
The Route Down Motorway 7
This is the easiest long drive out of Bangkok. Motorway 7 starts at Bang Na and runs southeast toward Pattaya; the Chonburi and Bang Saen exits come first, and the Si Racha exit follows shortly after. The mapped distance is about 110 km from central Bangkok, and the drive takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on where you start and when.
Timing matters more than distance here. Leave before 7am on a weekday and you are in Si Racha in 90 minutes. Friday and Sunday afternoons the motorway fills with weekend traffic, so pad your schedule by half an hour.
Your Options, With Real Numbers
Bus. From Ekkamai Eastern Bus Terminal toward Chonburi or Si Racha, around ฿100, about 2 hours. Frequent departures through the day.
Minivan. From Victory Monument and scattered city points, usually under ฿120 a seat. Fast, but the drop points are fixed and luggage space is tight.
Private car. Flat ฿20 per km, roughly 110 km mapped, so the run prices around ฿2,200 fixed, door to door. For factory meetings that start at 9am sharp, or a family with coolers and beach bags, this is the version with zero variables. The fare is quoted before you book and it does not move with traffic or weather.
Making a Day of It: Bang Saen and Khao Kheow
The reason to take a private car rather than a bus is the loop. A pattern that works: Khao Kheow Open Zoo in the morning while the animals are active, seafood lunch on the Bang Saen strip or at Angsila, a walk along Bang Saen's long beach promenade, and Nong Mon market on the way home for sweets and dried seafood. Doing that chain by public transport is a full day of scheduling; in one car it is just a day.
Waiting time is quoted into a flat day rate when you book, so the driver waits at each stop and you never renegotiate.
Port Days and Cruise Transfers
Laem Chabang's cruise terminal is 15 minutes from central Si Racha. If your run ends at a ship, see our Laem Chabang cruise transfer page for how embarkation timing works, and our longer cruise port guide for the details.
Who Should Book What
- Solo, no schedule: the ฿100 bus is honest value.
- Business on a clock: private car. The fixed ฿2,200-style quote beats a meter in traffic and beats a minivan for drop-point precision.
- Families and groups: private car, and the boot swallows the beach kit. Car seats are available if you tell us ages in advance.
- Coming from the airport: we can start the run at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang arrivals, same flat pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the driver wait while we eat or shop?
Yes. Waiting is quoted into the fare upfront, whether that is one hour at Nong Mon or a full day loop. No parking-lot math afterwards.
Do you drop inside the industrial estates?
Yes, anywhere in the Si Racha, Laem Chabang and Chonburi area, including estate gates and factory visitor entrances. Just give the exact drop point when booking.
Is Bang Saen worth the stop?
For a low-effort beach day out of Bangkok, yes. It is not a postcard island, but the promenade, the seafood and the market run make it one of the easiest family day trips from the city.
