Bangkok to Bang Saen Beach: Private Taxi Transfer Guide (Prices, Timing, Day Trip)

The Closest Real Beach to Bangkok

Ask a Bangkok family where they drove last Sunday and the answer is often Bang Saen. The beach sits about 90 km southeast of the city in Chonburi province, which makes it the nearest stretch of coast you can honestly call a beach day. Pattaya is louder and further. Hua Hin is nicer and twice the distance. Bang Saen is the short one, and that is exactly its appeal.

The town wraps around a wide bay held in place by a loop road. On weekdays it feels like a university town, because it is one: Burapha University sits a few streets back from the sand. On weekends the beachfront fills with families under rented umbrellas, kids on banana boats, and rows of plastic tables where vendors grill whatever came off the boats that morning.

What the Transfer Costs

Private car. We price Bangkok to Bang Saen the way we price every intercity run: a flat ฿20 per km on the real mapped route. The distance from central Bangkok is roughly 90 km, so the transfer prices around ฿1,800 fixed, door to door, tolls understood in advance. That is a touch under our Si Racha rate because Bang Saen is the shorter drive.

  • Fixed quote before you book. The price you see is the price you pay. No meter, no surge when it starts raining on Rama IX road.
  • Door to door. We pick up at your condo, hotel, or house in Bangkok and drop you at your exact Bang Saen address, not at a bus stop on the highway.
  • Same driver, return leg. Day trippers usually book a round trip and the driver waits or returns at a set hour, whichever you prefer.

Bus. Air-conditioned buses and minivans run from Ekkamai Eastern Bus Terminal toward Chonburi and Bang Saen for roughly ฿100 to ฿120 per seat. It is honest value if you are traveling light, alone, and on a loose schedule. The catch is the last leg: most services drop you somewhere on Sukhumvit road, and you still need a songthaew or a taxi to reach the sand.

Meter taxi off the street. Possible, but you will spend the first ten minutes negotiating because many drivers refuse the meter for a beach run, and a stuck meter in Saturday traffic is how a ฿1,800 trip quietly becomes ฿2,800.

Timing the Drive

The route runs down Motorway 7 and peels off toward the coast before Si Racha. Without traffic the drive takes about 1.5 hours. Two patterns matter:

  • Saturday morning: leave Bangkok before 8am and you cruise. Leave after 10am and you join the beach convoy.
  • Sunday afternoon: the return wave into Bangkok builds from about 4pm. A 6pm pickup from Bang Saen usually costs you an extra 45 minutes.

A Day Trip That Actually Works

The classic Bang Saen loop, in order:

  • Ang Sila first. The old stone market town on the way in is famous for granite mortars and a morning seafood market. Stop for 30 minutes, buy nothing or buy breakfast.
  • Nong Mon market. The strip of stalls along the main road into Bang Saen. Grilled squid, sweet sticky rice, dried seafood to take home. This is the part of the trip kids remember.
  • The beach after lunch. Umbrella rental is cheap, the water in the bay is calm, and the sunset side of the bay near Wonnapha beach to the north is the quieter end.
  • Khao Kheow Open Zoo, optional. Half an hour inland, and the single best add-on if children are in the car. It turns a beach day into a full day, and your driver simply adjusts the route home.

Bang Saen or Pattaya?

If your goal is nightlife, Walking Street, and a party weekend, Pattaya at ฿1,500 fixed is your run. If your goal is salt air, seafood, and being back in Bangkok by 8pm without feeling like you crossed a border, Bang Saen wins. It is also the better call with elderly parents or small children: shorter drive, gentler water, everything within a five minute walk.

Booking the Transfer

Send your pickup address, date, and preferred times and you get a fixed quote back, about ฿1,800 for the one way from central Bangkok. The car is a private EV, the price is locked before you sit down, and the driver handles the parking circus at the beach road so you do not have to.
