Bangkok Airport Taxi Fares in 2026: The Real Numbers (No Surprises)

Bangkok Airport Taxi Fares in 2026: The Real Numbers (No Surprises)

I Hated Writing This Post

Not because it's hard, but because every taxi blog says "prices vary" and "it depends on traffic" and gives you zero useful numbers. So here are the actual numbers. I checked these on April 2026 using meter taxis, the app, and our own flat rates.

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) Prices

BKK is about 30km from central Bangkok. The expressway makes a huge difference — without it, add 15-25 minutes and potentially 100+ baht to every trip.

DestinationMeter Taxithe appOur Fixed Price
Sukhumvit (Soi 1-39)250-350 ฿400-600 ฿500 ฿
Silom / Sathorn280-380 ฿420-650 ฿500 ฿
Siam / Pathum Wan250-350 ฿380-580 ฿600 ฿
Khao San / Phra Nakhon300-400 ฿450-700 ฿700 ฿
Chatuchak / Mo Chit220-300 ฿380-550 ฿500 ฿
Ratchadapisek / Huai Khwang200-300 ฿350-550 ฿500 ฿

Meter prices include 50 baht airport surcharge + 70 baht expressway tolls. the app prices are non-surge estimates. Our prices are all-inclusive (tolls included).

Don Mueang Airport (DMK) Prices

DMK is closer to central Bangkok — about 25km. Prices are a bit lower, but the taxi situation is slightly more chaotic (fewer official options).

Between Airports

Sometimes you land at BKK but need to get to DMK (or vice versa) for a connecting flight. It's about 50km, takes 45-75 minutes depending on traffic. Expect 400-550 baht by meter taxi, 600-900 baht on the app. We do it for 800 baht fixed.

Things That Affect Price

  • Rush hour (7-9am, 5-8pm): Meter runs higher in traffic. the app surges 1.5-2x. Our price doesn't change.
  • Rain: the app surges hard. Street taxis become scarce. Private transfers unaffected.
  • Late night (after 11pm): Street taxis try flat rates 2-3x meter. the app is your best bet among the apps.
  • Expressway vs surface streets: Always take the expressway if offered. The 70 baht toll saves 15-25 minutes and the meter still runs less.

My Take

For BKK to central Bangkok, the sweet spot is around 300-500 baht depending on your tolerance for hassle. If you want the absolute cheapest, walk to the official taxi queue and insist on the meter. If you want zero stress, book a fixed-price transfer — you'll pay maybe 100-200 baht more than the meter but save yourself the negotiation, the language barrier, and the "sorry I don't know that hotel" routine.

For DMK transfers, the savings are smaller since DMK is closer, but the convenience argument is the same.
